Thor: The Dark World

Kevin Feige was the producer of both Thor and Thor: The Dark World. As an extremely successful American film producer his films have a combined worldwide box office gross of $8.3 billion in addition to his role as the President of Production at the world famous Marvel Studios, having previously worked on such phenomenons as the X-Men movies.


Alan Taylor


Alan Taylor is an American television and film director, producer, screenwriter and most significantly the director of Thor: The Dark World.  Currently hired as the director of Terminator (2015), Taylor's career is catapulting into success.






Budget
Following the big budget prequel, Thor, Thor: The Dark World had a huge budget of $150 million earning $181 million state side and $449 million worldwide making it a huge success. 

Cast


Natalie Portman, famous for her role in Black Swan, returns to the role of Jane Foster.


Christopher Eccleston, famous for playing Doctor Who, plays Malekith the Accursed


Kat Dennings, famous for her role in American sitcom 2 Broke Girls, plays Darcy Lewis.


Jaimie Alexander plays Sif  

Idris Elba plays Heimdall

Anthony Hopkins plays the role of Odin

Zachary Levi plays the role of Fandral

Stellan Skarsgard plays Professor Erik Selvig

Tom Hiddleston returns as the villainous brother Loki.

Marketing




In April 2013, Marvel released the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World.

In July, Tom Hiddleston introduced footage from the film to audiences in character at the San Diego Comic-Con. 


In July, Gamecroft announced that a mobile video game would be released. This is an example of cross media convergence. 



In August 2013, Marvel released the second trailer of Thor:The Dark World as part of Youtube's Geek Week, producing a 150 second trailer. Producer Kevin Feige and cast members Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins presented additional footage at the Disney Studio's. Disney announced plans to promote the film with an attraction at Disneyland, Paris.
 
Release


 The Dark World premiered at the Odeon Leicester Square in London on October 30, 2013.


It was also internationally premiered on October 30th.
